Co2 emissions data from IBA NetZero has revealed that Volotea has shown the most significant improvement in scope one CO2 emissions since 2019. This is based on unit CO2 emissions per available seat kilometre.
Volotea has launched over 50 initiatives to reduce fuel consumption in the past 5 years. Most notable of these is the transition to a 100% Airbus A319-320 fleet, replacing the Boeing 717, that was phased out in Summer 2021. The A319 fleet produces 31% less CO2 per available seat kilometre than the Boeing 717
This fleet renewal strategy has made a major contribution to the reduction in Volotea's CO2 emissions.
“Voloterra (Volotea's sustainability program) focuses on 4 areas of action: Efficient Business Model, Emissions Reduction, Green Transition and Offsetting Goals. We are proud to see how our projects and efficiency initiatives are showing tangible results. Our objective is to continue improving to reach our goal of 50% reduction per passenger kilometre compared to 2012.” - Gloria Carreras, ESG Director, Volotea.
IBA NetZero is the most advanced finance-focused carbon modelling tool currently available; we're leading the way. It's powered by IBA's proprietary fuel-burn intelligence which, when integrated with the Flights and Fleets module, can illustrate carbon emissions by any combination of time, airline, lessor, aircraft MSN and model, fleet, future portfolios, OEM, country, airport and route pair.
