What happened in Q1 2024: January - March

  • Monthly global passenger capacity recovery remained above pre-pandemic ASKs across Q1 2024, with March-2024 ASKs at 103% vs 2019.

  • During March 2024, operator capacity from North America, Latin America, and Africa was trending between 110%-115% vs 2019, while ASKs from Europe, APAC and the Middle East were broadly at 2019 levels.

  • Overall, there were approximately 8.11 million commercial passenger flights during Q1-2024, a YoY increase of +10% compared to Q1-2023. International flight volumes grew +19% YoY, while domestic travel showed more modest growth at +6% YoY.

  • There were 252 commercial aircraft deliveries across Q1-2024, representing a variance of -7% and -27% to Q1-2023 and Q1-2018 respectively.

  • So far during 2024, Airbus A320neo deliveries have averaged 40/month, compared to Boeing's 737 MAX at 22/month.

 

What happened in Q2 2024: April - June

  • Monthly global passenger capacity recovery remained above pre-pandemic ASKs across Q2-2024, with June-2024 ASKs at 105% vs 2019.

  • During June 2024, operator capacity Europe and the APAC was broadly at 2019 levels. ASKs from North America and M.East were trending between 105%-110% vs 2019, while capacity from Latin America and Africa reached 115%-120% vs 2019.

  • Overall, there were approximately 8.89 million commercial passenger flights during Q2-2024, a YoY increase of +7.2% compared to Q2-2023. International flight volumes grew +12.5% YoY, while domestic travel showed more modest growth at +4.5% YoY.

  • There were 304 commercial aircraft deliveries across Q2-2024, representing a variance of -16% and -31% to Q1-2023 and Q1-2018 respectively.

  • During H1-2024 2024, Airbus A320neo deliveries have averaged 45/month, compared to Boeing's 737 MAX at 22/month.
