Example Case Study

Issue

An aircraft leasing fund was looking to outsource the management of the fleet while it both acquired further aircraft and developed its own inhouse capacity.

Approach

IBA advised the fund on the most suitable aircraft, the best means of acquiring them and led the negotiation and management of the fleet, overseeing delivery of new aircraft, the ongoing management, dealing with maintenance reserve claims, lessor contributions and ultimately the remarketing at lease end.

Result

Aircraft were acquired through a mixture of purchases from other lessors as well as directly originated sale leaseback transactions. As part of the process, IBA performed an inspection of the aircraft and records over a 15 day period to highlight potential issues that resulted in the negotiations to reduce the price of the aircraft by 450,000USD. IBA was fully responsible for lease reviews and negotiations of the originated deals, IBA successfully extended five of the leases, sold seven aircraft and arranged leases with new lessees on three of those aircraft.
