IBA's aviation Carbon Emissions Calculator 'CEC' is a vital tool to allow airlines, lessors, banks and investors to understand their Carbon emissions and fulfil ever-evolving ESG requirements. For banks and investors, it is important to have access to clear and accurate third-party CO2 emissions data to cross-check and verify published figures when assessing lending opportunities.

We compared CO2 emissions data issued by Ryanair for the period of May 2019 - December 2019 to our Carbon Emissions Calculator. A direct comparison of CO2 emissions per-seat per-kilometre shows a high level of accuracy between the airline and IBA's carbon modelling calculations.

Using the metric of CO2 per-seat per-mile or kilometre, the CEC provides a meaningful measure of aviation carbon efficiency across operators, fleets and aircraft types. Our CEC's model applies aggregated load factors based on a typical operational year; subscribers can verify aircraft fuel efficiency over different distances, load factors and seat layouts.

InsightIQ's Carbon Emissions Calculator is the leading finance focussed aviation carbon modelling tool available. Combining IBA's proprietary fuel burn data with InsightIQ's flight and fleets modules, you can illustrate carbon emissions by combinations of factors including time, airline, lessor, model, portfolio, OEM and aircraft MSN. An example of this analysis can be found in our recent case study of Qatar Airways' Carbon Emissions indicated that the Boeing 787-9 was the most efficient widebody in their fleet. IBA also now publishes a monthly aviation Carbon Emissions Index, highlighting a ranking of best performing airlines, lessors and aircraft by CO2 emissions.

IBA's InsightIQ analysis platform flexibly illustrates multiple asset, fleet and market positions, actual and potential, to inform client choices and identify acquisition opportunities. Immediate access to crucial aircraft, engine, lease rate and fleet data eases appreciation of historic and future aircraft concentrations and operator profiles.
