IBA's InsightIQ aviation intelligence platform has identified key aircraft engine values trends for widebody, narrowbody and regional aircraft, shared in our recent Engine Values Update Webinar.

How are engines fitted to current generation regional aircraft performing?

Key takeaways

  • The CF34-8E/8C has a loyal operator base in the regional jet dominated North American region. Typically fitted to Embraer 170, 175 and CRJ aircraft, IBA anticipates the engine to have a longer life expectancy if scope clauses do not change.

  • The CF35-10E, as fitted to the Embraer 190 and 195, has witnessed a rise in demand due to lower lease rates. Economic trends present a clear issue going forward, and shop visit costs may not be economical.

  • The PW100/120/150 turboprop family is facing restrictions on it's end of life opportunities due to OEM control on the aftermarket. This engine family is fitted to a variety of ATR42/72 and DHC8 aircraft.

How are engines fitted to new generation regional aircraft performing?

Key takeaways

  • The PW1200G/1400G is showing little overall activity. Activity has been limited by the slowed development of the Irkut MC-21 and the pause in development of the Mitsubishi SpaceJet. The first deliveries of the PW1400G were expected to be made to Aeroflot in the third quarter of 2022, though it is likely this will be impacted by sanctions placed on Russia's aviation industry.

  • Previous entry into service issues for the PW1500G appear to have been resolved, and the engine is performing better in terms of sales than the PW1900G. The PW1500G is typically fitted to the Airbus A220 (formerly known as the Bombardier C-series).

  • Orders have stalled for the PW1900G. This engine is fitted to the Embraer 190 E2 series.
