Newswatch 22nd May 2017
The AFJ New York conference last week highlighted continuing strong investment into the aviation market, across all sectors including airlines, OEM and leasing. Despite this, there is further evidence that we can’t take our eye off the ball with news of Cathay Pacific embarking on a concerted cost cutting effort and Singapore unveiling a quarterly loss. It’s tough to be an airline, even in this relatively low fuel price environment.
The IBA events programme rolls on. If you need to review, refine or understand more on how to mitigate against defaults and repossessions we are with A&O in London this Thursday, offering commercial, legal and technical advice on reducing risk and exposure. You can register here. Next up is our Redelivery seminar in Dublin on the 7th June – to hear the latest on technical and legal issues register here.
For those that haven’t seen our new aviation data analysis platform IBA.iQ, we are now offering system demonstrations online and it’s also possible to register for a free trial of the system as soon as it becomes available through our website – click here. Mike Yeomans, IBA’s Head Analyst of Commercial Aircraft, showcased some of iQ’s fleet, utilisation, lease rates and estimated lease end dates data in a market update and a look at the impact on the aftermarket at last week’s Aviation Summit in Dublin. You can see the slide deck here.
Lastly IBA received the very sad news of the unexpected passing of Steve Fisk last week. Steve was our former COO and had a huge influence on IBA, most notably laying the growth foundations throughout our sale process to our new owners. His family have set up a link if you wanted to remember Steve or donate to Water Aid, a charity close to Steve: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/steve-fisk.
